Golden Globe Awards Celebrity Dresses

 

One of the biggest award ceremonies of the year is the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 15, 2012 in Beverly Hills, California. Hosted by the controversial British comedian Ricky Gervais, the event celebrated the biggest names and a thriving year in the film and TV industry.

Hollywood A-listers didn't miss the chance to flaunt their glam making a serious statement on the 2012 Golden Globe Awards' red carpet. Actresses and TV personalities strode in front of the cameras in breathtaking designs by the greatest fashion houses, each of the garments adorned with artful detailings and made from the finest of materials. Let's see what Hollywood's heavy hitters wore to the 2012 Golden Globe celebrations!

 

 

Innocent tones of white were plastered all over the 2012 Golden Globe Awards' red carpet. Screen sirens donned amazing garments in pure white, beige, cream, bone, off-white and nude accented with intricate lace, sequins or studs. 'Young Adult' actress Charlize Theron walked the red carpet in a Dior gown with Cartier jewels and Givenchy sandals, while Kate Beckinsale and Elle MacPherson both looked stunning in their strapless mermaid gowns by Roberto Cavalli and Zac Posen. Heidi Klum accented her nude Michael Kors maxi dress with contrasting turquoise jewelry, whilst 'Modern Family' actress Sarah Hyland showed off her figure in a lacey number by Dolce & Gabbana. Jessica Chastain opted for a pure white pearl-embellished gown by Givenchy and Shailene Woodley picked a dress from the Marchesa Bridal Fall/Winter 2012 collection.  

Style icon and designer Nicole Richie shone in a metallic frock by Julien MacDonald, so did Angelina Jolie in an Atelier Versace creation. Mom of two ,Jessica Alba donned an amazing Gucci strapless gown drizzled with embellished detailing, while Australian actress Nicole Kidman opted for studs with this floor-length gown by Versace.

Feather details create a great impact on the red carpet. RnB songstress Mary J. Blige wore a tan stretch tulle Michael Kors gown with a feathered hem. Dame Helen Mirren opted for a navy frock by Badgley Mischka, while Tilda Swinton chose to wear Haider Ackermann to the event. 'The Help' star Octavia Spencer went home with the Best Supporting Actress Award and donned a figure hugging Tadashi Shoji lavender gown. 

Colombian beauty Sofia Vergara flaunted her hourglass figure in a Vera Wang peacock-colored mermaid gown. Freida Pinto wore a lighter shade of peacock courtesy of Prada. Sarah Michelle Gellar stood out in a dramatic Monique Lhuillier tufted gown featuring contrasting ink blot prints.

A few ladies have chosen to stand out from the crowd by opting for a pop of color: Natalie Portman was pretty in pink in her Prada custom made gown, Ariel Winter went with a purple Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress, Michelle Williams donned a floor-skimming Jason Wu dress, while Jenna Dewan Tatum strutted her stuff in a Maria Lucia Hohan emerald gown.

Hollywood funny woman Melissa McCarthy was one of the few Golden Globe attendees who have chosen shaded tones of green. Her dress of choice was this Badgley Mischka empire waist, long sleeved dress which was accented by the golden neck line and matching clutch bag. Madonna was also present at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards wearing a Reem Acra dark green embroidered gown, while Evan Rachel Wood donned the most amazing feathered gown which was custom created for the event by the talented Gucci team. 'New Girl' Zooey Deschanel was dressed from head to toe in Prada.

Two more actresses who have had the privilege to wear unique, custom made designs to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards were Emma Stone and Salma Hayek. Emma Stone was spotted wearing a wine and raspberry V-neck dress by Lanvin, while Salma Hayek donned Gucci. Glee's Lea Michele showed some skin in this metallic embroidered illusion dress from Marchesa.

 

Viola Davis arrived to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards wearing a one-shouldered chiffon gown by Emilio Pucci, while Reese Witherspoon made quite an entrance in a scarlet gown by Zac Posen. Glee girls Amber Riley and Dianna Agron rocked different shades of red, courtesy of Badgley Mischka and Giles. 

Julianne Moore has chosen to wear a black strapless gown by Chanel, whilst Claire Danes played it safe in a black and white J. Mendel gown. Kate Winslet also kept her look simple with a black and white ensemble with a Jenny Packham dress, Roger Vivier shoes and Fred Leighton jewelry. As the new face of the Miss Dior handbags, Mila Kunis wore Christian Dior to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

Golden Globes 2012 winner Meryl Streep won Best Actress for her work in The Iron Lady; she was dressed by Alessandra Rich. Debra Messing opted for a Monique Lhullier black one-shouldered gown, while Rooney Mara kept things simple with a Nina Ricci gown.
